After watching Story of Stuff it is interesting to learn about all the things in this world are made up of. Your learn a lot about the statistics of the world like... how the coporation is bigger than the government, 1/3 of the natural resources are now gone, we use 2,000 trees a minute, the production buildings send out 4 billion pounds of pollution per year, a person sees or hears atleast 3,000 advertisments a day, a common household goes through 4.5 pounds of trash a day, and an average person spends atleast an extra 3-4 hours in shopping. If everyone had recylcled everyday that would still not be enought to save the world. Most of the things that are thrown in the trash cannot be recycled because they contain too much harmful chemicals. Everyone needs to start recycling just to help the world a little bit and hopefully one day, the world will be a better place.
After watching the story about stuff, i really have a better understanding of things. I have known for a couple of years that we as people are quickly diminishing our resources. I have heard that many times throughout the past like 3 years. What i did learn though were the statistics surrounding the matter. I never heard the actual stats, but now that i have i really wish i didn't. Its scary to think that in a matter of decades while I am still alive a lot of our resources will go away forever.
Watching Story of Stuff just showed me everything that I already knew. I probably could try to prevent some of this stuff, but I would rather keep buying the things I like and not caring about what happens to the Earth. I mean I recycle my bottles and cans, thats good enough for me. Thats just the easiest way to do it. I could go out and help prevent these things, but I know I won't ever do that. The only part that scared me was the dioxins that go in to the air. Thats a little sketchy.
After watching a video in class today I learned that the companys in the world control 51% and the goverment only really controls 49%. I also learned that there are 100,000 synthetic chemicals products made daily. That there is 4,000,000,000 pounds of toxics a year produced. the trash that we throw away is stuff that we buy within 60 days of us throwing it out. If we don't start slowing down and recycling that we will not have a plant left to live on.
after watching that movie showed me how the world has a little bit more control over the government and that every year we dump 4billion pounds of toxics . grosssss
the story of stuff wasnt very interesting for me... you can tell that the lady that wrote that had no experience in any fields having anything to do with what she was talking about. she knew all the numbers and facts and stuff like that, but she was one sided about everything... so yeah... i didnt like it.
