I was surprised to hear how many people got the chance to call their loved ones before the plane crashed. How strong the passagers on that flight stood up and tried to get control back from the terrorist that hijacked the plane. As the story was read, i could tell that the people on that flight were strong, by the way they were trying confront the hijackiers to take the plane back. I can't remember where I was at the time, but I do remember the empty feeling I felt for all those people on board.it hurt to know that there were so many people who lost their lives before they had a chance to live their lives fully.
Well we had to read this article about The Bystander Effect for homework for my self and world class. We have to write a responce to it which is okay. I have that class Wednesdays and on Thursday I have a written class. It just happened that my teacher in that class gave us the same exact article. It was great because we read it in class so I don't have to read it by myself. All I have to do is sit down and write my responce it's great how that worked out. If I was someone who was seeing something happening to someone else I would help. I have helped someone that was being harrassed by someone else. I was driving into cland to pick up my sisters from the bar one night and some guy was pushing this little women around. I stopped the car and got inbetween the two of them. I helped her into my car and I took her to her parents so they could help her. Then three summers ago I lived in cortland and I was getting ready to take my boyfriend to work and I went outside to warm up the car and i heard from man screaming at his girlfriend. I stopped and watched for about five minutes when all of a sudden he slapped her acrossed the face and she fall to the ground. I was like all over that guy. i had picked up a tree branch off the ground and hit the man with it. I helped the girl up and by that time she got up, my boyfriend had already called the cops and they had showed up.I think the responibility for a bystander should be to watch out for other people.I believe that if you treat people the way you wanted to be treated that good things will come to you. I believe that everyone should do one good thing everyday. From doing something simple like opening a door or doing something that could save someones life.
So after given the Bystander Effect to us in Self and World, i go into class on Thursday and we read it in there. so that saved me some time from reading it on my own! but i believe the responsibility of a bystander is what they do in their own situations. everyone acts differently to actions whether they help the person or not. i personally have never been in a bystander situation so i wouldn't know the experience. but if i had ever been in that situation i would help the person(s) in danger depending on the risk that it would bring to me.
On September 11th, 2001 I still lioved in Paso Robles, California. When I woke up my mom was freaking out. It was only seven in the morning in Cali. and I was in fifth grade. The video of the planes crashing on the TV i thought was from a movie, so I didn't think anything of it. When I went ro school that day I realized it was real. My teacher had us take two weeks off from class work to learn about what had happened to our country. My grandfather still lived in New York City, so then I realized why my mom was worried. He lived in Queens, so when we talked to him he said that he was fine. I was young but I understood how serious this situation was and that a war was most likely going to start.
on september 11, 2001 i was in school when the planes crashed into the world trade towers. i was in fourth grade and the principal came in to tell my teacher about it, and she wasnt aloud to tell us so i didnt find out until i got home. when i was watching the news stories about it, i was surprised and confused. i like how the movie showed the passengers standing up for themselves, i think i would have done the same thing in that situation. those passengers were true heroes because they did what they did because it was the right thing to do, not because they wanted to get recognition for it.
